BOOST IMMUNITY AND IMPROVE PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE

SPIRULINA OVERVIEW

Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that is rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins and carotendoids. Its active compounds help boost the immune system, improve digestive, and cardiovascular health, protect against allergic reactions, increase exercise performance, and fat oxidation. Spirulina supplementation may help:

  • Improve immunity
  • Enhance the health of the intestinal microflora
  • Support cardiovascular health
  • Treat acne
  • Increase exercise performance

SPIRULINA IN-DEPTH

Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae made primarily from two species of cyanobacteria: Arthrospira platensis and Arthrospira maxima. Spirulina is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids, antioxidants, and was a food source for the Aztecs and other Mesoamericans until the 16th century. It supports the functions of the immune system by stimulating the production of antibodies, cytokines, and endogen antioxidants including GSH and thus it may improve resistance to infections. In vitro study found that spirulina extract has also been found active against herpes, and influenza virus. It may also enchance the health of the intestinal microflora, and decrease the development of Candida albicans. In addition Spirulina increases exercise performance, by improving fat utilization and energy production.

ENCHANCES THE FUNCTION OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

Spirulina has been shown to boost immunity. Spirulina increases production of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that improve immunity and help ward off infection and chronic illnesses such as cancer. Spirulina exhibits antiviral activity. Studies suggest that spirulina has activity against herpes, influenza, and HIV.

SUPPORTS CHOLESTEROL METABOLISM

Spirulina has been shown to improve blood cholesterol profiles. In a study thirty healthy men with high cholesterol, mild hypertension and hyperlipidemia showed lower serum cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL (\"bad\") cholesterol levels after eating spirulina for eight weeks.

MAY PROTECT AGAINST ALLERGIC REACTIONS

Spirulina may protect against allergic reactions. Spirulina inhibits the release of histamines, substances that contribute to allergy symptoms.

IMPROVES DIGESTIVE HEALTH

Spirulina improve your digestive health. Studies suggest that spirulina boosts the growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus and other probiotics, thus supports healthy flora balance in the digestive system.

IMPROVES PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE

Spirulina increases exercise performance, fat oxidation, and GSH concentration. In Particular study spirulina supplementation induced a significant increase in exercise performance, fat oxidation, and GSH concentration and attenuated the exercise-induced increase in lipid peroxidation.

HELPS TREAT ACNE

Spirulina helps fight against free radicals and eliminate toxins, including bacteria on the skin, thus it can decrease the formation of acne. Spirulina may also improve the metabolism of skin cells that increase the rate of elimination of dead skin cells and the development of new, healthy skin cells.
